Gaga’s Workshop Opens at Barney’s

Admit it, you want your picture taken in Gaga's mouth. Get one of those foam fingers people take to sports games and you could really get creative with it.

Eff you, Black Friday! And eff you, too, Brown Thursday! Tomorrow is Rainbow Tuesday! That’s the name that the opening of Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys, occurring at 11:59 this evening, should rightly if arbitrarily lend to the day. Gaga is supposed to be there to officiate things, so hopefully she can be on time since the marketing so delicately hinges on the 11:59 time stamp. Apparently in addition to a “click-to-hatch version of Lady Gaga in her famous Hussein Chalayan egg from the Grammy Awards,” the Gaga-themed shop-in-shop, curated by her stylist Nicola Formichetti along with Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman, contains food. – - courtesy of NYmag - By

Legendary international fashion designer, Mr. Roberto Cavalli, will show his designs and personally take part in the opening of TLVFW. Italy has also signed an agreement to help Israel take their bi-annual initiative to the next level – just like other worldwide fashion weeks. – -Coverage by, NY Beauty Products

Fashion Fast-Forward Styles

If you didn’t have a chance to watch all the Spring 2012 fashion shows from your laptop, there’s a shortcut: Holli Rogers’ trends presentation for fashion e-tailer Net-a-Porter. As the luxe site’s buying director, Rogers spends each season racing from showroom to runway, and a job requirement is to remain on the cutting edge of what’s ahead in fashion. (She has the wardrobe to prove it; she’s often a target of the paparazzi who hang about outside fashion shows.) Rogers’ latest presentation took place in London’s full force foggy winter this week. Here’s what she says we should be looking out for: Unlike recession-hit economies, fashion has a vibrant outlook, with trends that will take you on an odyssey from Hawaii to Africa, from neoprene to raffia, from the 1920s to the 2020s. – - lots more CLICK

Nicki Minaj wearing a palm tree

The biggest news this week other than the Eurozone crisis and the Greek economy has been the launch of the Versace range of clothing in the H&M stores. The launch happened in New York with performances from Prince and Nicki Minaj who appeared to be wearing a palm tree on her head (because the collection had a palm tree theme). It was a celebrity-studded event with more expensive couture on show on the audience than the ramp. It was held in a specially built ornate cavern on New York’s Hudson River and even the professionally cynical fashion journalists and seasoned fashion week visitors seemed dazed and overwhelmed. – – Catch more on this here

Colorful Fall Fashions

“Designers are mixing bright and dark pieces for their autumn collections, and the art of color blocking never ceases to amaze!”

Who says that the art of fashion can’t have a bright future? Fall fashion has been transformed from its dark colored past into fascinating bright colors. The contrast of color in modern fall pieces proves that fashion is becoming more fiercely bold and designers are breaking away from old fall color traditions. Designers are mixing bright and dark pieces for their autumn collections, and the art of color blocking never ceases to amaze! – - more by Endya Williams

Costume Designs For ‘Serah’

Yuko Oshima isn’t just a Final Fantasy XIII-2 judge, she’s also a costume designer. Square Enix asked the AKB48 idol to design two costumes for Serah and her moogle. Starting on November 15, fans will be able to vote on which one makes it into the game as downloadable content on the Judge13 page. Oshima calls this first outfit “exposure and defense.” When designing this costume she wondered is it really possible for Final Fantasy female characters to fight with so much showing. Oshima thought adding pointed shoes and a shield would make Serah ready for a fight. – - more about Yuko
