Marc Jacobs set to make Film debut

The New York Fashion Week darling is to star in Disconnect, an indie drama that, in the words of IMDB, is 'centred on a group of people searching for human connections in today's wired world.' Fashionista.com reports that the designer's latest professional incarnation has just been added to the film site, though there is no official word, as yet, on the character he will play. The 48-year-old will make his acting debut alongside Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Andrea Riseborough, Paula Patton, Frank Grillo and Michael Nyqvist. Colorful Masks by Russian Designer @ F/W Gala

Models displayed impressive creations by Russian designer Konstantin Gayday during the Volvo Fashion Week in Moscow, Russia, on Oct 31, 2011. The remarkable costume construction with perfect geometry, cuts and choice of colors was a bit hit at the Fashion Week. Also, his eclectic experiments with ethnic prints, neon colours, feathers and beads were widely appreciated, along with bizarre yet mesmerizing costumes teamed with attractive bright masks covering the models’ faces. Check out some of the vibrant creations from the runway of the Volvo Fashion Week 2011.

Theadora Van Runkle 83, dies; Costume Designer

Theadora Van Runkle’s career spanned four decades. She was catapulted to fame after costuming ‘Bonnie and Clyde.’
Hollywood costume designer Theadora Van Runkle, whose influence spanned four decades and a range of movie genres including period pieces like "Bonnie and Clyde" — which earned her the first of three Academy Award nominations — and over-the-top comedies like 1989's "Troop Beverly Hills," has died. She was 83. Van Runkle died Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of lung cancer, the Costume Designers Guild announced. Born March 27, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Van Runkle made connections in the entertainment industry not long after that. "She came out here as a baby," her son Max said, "when her mother came out here to try and make it in Hollywood."

Jean Paul Gaultier From Sidewalk2Catwalk:Dallas Museum Of Art

The Dallas Museum of Art be hosting a fabulous exhibit making the first of two US stops here in Dallas. The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk will showcase the artistic genius of French designer Jean Paul Gaultier’s fashion designs. The exhibit opens Monday, November 13th and will run through February 12th, 2012. You can feast your eyes on approximately 130 haute couture dresses and ready-to-wear pieces designed by Gaultier between the 1970s and 2011. On display will be pieces that he has designed for musicians, such as the corsets famously worn by Madonna during her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour, as well as many pieces that have never been seen by the public. Talented Graduate, Peter Nguyen Showing at Vancouver FW


Peter Loc Tan Nguyen, a 2011 B.F.A. Graduate from the Fashion Design and Knitwear Dept., headed by Gladys Perint Palmer, at the AAU, San Francisco, will be showing his senior collection as part of Vancouver Fashion Week. Peter is currently studying abroad at Studio Berçot in Paris, but is making a special trip back to North America for VFW. When designing his collection, Peter found inspiration in blurring the lines between femininity and masculinity, adapting men’s tailoring concepts to women’s wear. The mixture of hard angles, soft curves, and delicate fabrics made for a stunning collection. Peter’s fashion show will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 8:50 PM at Masik Studio in Vancouver. The Fabric of the Cosmos

Pixeldust Studios produced over 1,000 animations and visual effects that will be featured in the upcoming, four-part NOVA television series, The Fabric of the Cosmos. Based on the best-selling book by author Brian Greene (The Elegant Universe), The Fabric of the Cosmos will air on PBS for four consecutive Wednesdays, beginning Nov. 2.
