Milan Fashion Week has drawn to a close and we’ve taken a look at the key trends to emerge for next season from the Italian catwalks. Fur, as already seen on the Autumn/Winter 2012 runway in both New York and London, also returned to Milan as the winter outerwear favorite.
AW12 trend: Fur. Missoni, Gucci and Etro.
Soft fur jackets contrasted Etro’s boho styles and Missoni’s signature colorful knitted stripes while two-tone fur complimented Marni’s block color collection. Full fur coats were seen at Gucci and Fendi, the former adopting a classic look while the latter opted for bright dyed fur.
AW12 trend: Slate. Anteprima and Sportmax.
Slate emerged as the pantone of choice for office wear with Anteprima showcasing sleek pencil skirts and matching layered gilets in tones of grey, and similarly Sportmax presented shift dresses with black satin touches – clearly charcoal chic is next seasons working wardrobe. Tweed, dogtooth and pinstripes, all honed next season’s trends. Favouring tweed was Giorgio Armani who sent models down the catwalk in masculine suits complete with sweeping side trilbies, while Prada’s trouser printed tweed suits in orange and brown had a significant retro feel.
AW12 trend: Tweed. Prada, Moschino and Giorgio Armani
Moschino’s classic black and white dogtooth pattern appeared on tailored outwear while pinstripes appeared on waterfall wrap jackets at Emporio Armani. Glamouros evening wear and ball gowns decorated in luxurious lace, embroidery and embellishment were seen at Alberta Ferretti, Bottega Veneta and Dolce & Gabbana. A dark colour palette with touches of gold and sparkling white marked the red carpet evening wear trend.

La piece de resistance however, was seen at the finale of Roberto Cavalli’s show, in the form of a textured aubergine gown donned by supermodel Naomi Campbell, who appeared radiant as ever in Cavalli’s luxurious halterneck dress complete with black long leather gloves and shiny long locks. Military also re-surfaced as a key trend for the coming season as both Maxmara and Salvatore Ferragamo’s models paraded the shows in army dress. Maxmara favoured the traditional khaki trench and military cap, while Salvatore’s brass button up jacket complete with leather satchel and high boots paid reference to historical army uniforms.

Luxe metallics also shone through as a key trend for next season with Just Cavalli and Versace respectively showcasing bronze and silver skin-tight jumpsuits and dresses for Autumn/Winter 2012. The highlight however, was Jil Sander’s show. Taking to the stage for the last time, Raf Simons received a standing ovation for his feminine collection dotted with metallic statement pieces for Jil Sander as he bid the brand farewell.

17:24 Moschino Cheap and ChicMoschino Cheap And Chic's first show in London was a sugar-coated '60s vision of the capital says Stella magazine's style director, Kate Finnigan. Read her full show report herePHOTOS: GETTYThe theme of Christopher Raeburn's first standalone women's presentation was 'freeze' and I can't think of any clothes I would rather wear when the temperatures fall. Lighter than air quilted nylon coats are filled with light weight wadding made from recycled PEP bottles, black nylon bomber jackets are all made from totally recycled Japanese nylon, and lightweight puffas are lined with fleece made from post consumer waste. Don't let any of that put you off however. It was all unbelievably chic - and warm too! - Tamsin Blanchard, Telegraph Magazine.
His daughter's star may be on the rise (Simone showed a punchy collection earlier today) but John Rocha isn't content to let his wane accordingly. As one of London's old guard and a longtime collaborator with Debenhams -hardly a hotbed of wild creative talent - it's easy to dismiss Rocha as outdated. Until, that is, one remembers that when it comes to texture, he reigns supreme. As ever, it was a collection grounded in black, but it came in crochet, lace, mongolian lambskin, felted wool and silk. To demonstrate: the opening look featured an inflated boulder of a taffeta jacket, hovering over a distressed woollen skirt, with a sheer black slip underneath. The shoes were just as texturally schizophrenic; little futuristic kitten-heel booties seemingly made of rubber, edged with glossy fur. They were fetishistic and I liked it. - Ellie Pithers, fashion intern.

Today: 15:30 Reclaim To Wear x Central Saint Martins
There's an injection of new blood at London Fashion Week's Estethica this season, showcasing the best in eco fashion. From Somewhere's Orsola de Castro, who is also creative director of Reclaim To Wear, an organization that labels up cycled capsule collections, has been working with students of second years students from Central Saint Martins. Ten teams have been using the fashion industry's surplus such as stock, remnants and off-cuts to create a catwalk piece and two "commercial" pieces. The work of two teams stands out: Third Collective's bold collages of texture and color, Angstrom's knitted shoes. Amazing what you can do with a few scraps, and food for thought in these cash strapped times when young designers could be making more use of the industry's excess fabrics and trims. A selection of the students' collections and films can be seen at reclaimtowear.com. - Tamsin Blanchard, style director, Telegraph Magazine.

Ondira Hardin and Thairina Garcia: two 14-year-old models who walked in the Marc Jacobs autumn/winter 2012 show. Photo: Vladimir Potop
Pre-New York Fashion Week, chairman of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), Diane von Furstenberg, released an exhaustive list of guidelines aimed at keeping models fit. Supplying healthy meals on fittings, professional help for those struggling with eating disorders and checking IDs to ensure models are over 16 pre-shows were just some of the items on the modelling check list. But it seems this last one has already been forgotten. Less than two weeks after the list was released, top designer Marc Jacobs has sent two underage models down his autumn/winter 2012 catwalk on Monday, February 13. Brazilian model Thairina Garcia and star of the winter 2011 Prada campaign, Ondira Hardin, both took to the catwalk despite the fact that they are both, reportedly, 14 years-old. Far from being apologetic, Jacobs has defended his choice of models, insisting that the CFDA's Health Initiative cannot influence his shows: "I do the show the way I think it should be and not the way somebody tells me it should be," he told the New York Times. "If their parents are willing to let them do a show, I don't see any reason that it should be me who tells them that they can't," he continued. "There are children actors and children models for catalogues and stuff, so I guess if a parent thinks it's ok and a kid wants to do it, it's fine." The comments are the latest in a debate that began when a group of female MPs, led by Liberal Democrat MP Jo Swinson, announced that they wanted young models to have similar rights to child actors and actresses, namely chaperones to take them to shoots and shows.
